‘Reaching’ is a three track piece that follows a more personal theme then my other work, exploring
themes of exploration of body and gender. This piece more than any feels like a self portrait.

Installation

A durational installation first performed at Peopling the Palace Alumni 2018. Also a collaboration
with feminist performance artist Laura Bradley.
An exploration of gender performance labour roles in modern society. This piece contains nudity
and rocks. The piece used a sensitive and reactive audio setup and lasted 1 hour.

Performative Installation
Performed: 24th April 2018
A collaborative performance installation with choreographer, dance technologist and dancer Zhi Xu.
The piece involves the dancer (Zhi Xu) performing, while being projected onto with custom visuals
controlled by me. The piece is a commentry on gender identity with performance and the asperation of
finding ones identity with gender and body. The performance also focused on the reactivity of sound,
body and visuals and is a movement to more political and personal works.

A group of works based upon emotional and physical environments. This is the second EP released by
A-Kin and encapsulates a more ambient and aesthetic based sound. The piece is available on all

The piece Songs To Sleep: I is a work by installation artist and composer A-Kin (Dee Egan) a third
year SMP student.
Split loosely into three short movements:
Each movement represents a different aspect of the concept. Feel free to get comfortable within
the space, stay as
long as you like and most importantly, relax. The Installation is on a 15 minute loop with a 4 minute
ambient interlude.

Breathe_Easy: I is a performance piece for 3 vocalists and live electronics.
The basis for the piece is that the performers are to estimate 5 minutes of breathing at different
pitch levels and intensity while the live electronic player manipulates the audio using a custom
made piece of software, made only for the piece.
It was premiered at the Experimental Music 3,
concert at the University of Hertfordshire as part of their annul concert.
The performers were Luke Thelin, Zz-Angelo Wilcox and Chea Griffin Anker, with A-Kin manipulating
the live electronics.

Concept Piece

The piece Songs To Sleep: I is a concept driven work of an experimental nature. Split loosely into
three short movements (Movement 1: Early Bright, Movement 2: DMT and Movement 3: Songs To Sleep). The
use of the word loosely is not accidental as the movements have no clear ending or starting points and
the whole work is a continuous stream of audio. The reason for splitting the piece down into three
movements is due to separate cut of the work being released as three separate tracks to allow
listeners to experience each track as a separate work in its own right. As well as this, dividing the
piece into 3 movements reflects the transitions and flow of the work. The piece can be referred to as
cinematic however this is discouraged as it is both inaccurate (by most definitions) due to its
self-sufficiency and is the opposite of what was intended by the composer.

The event started with me being invited to a University of Hertfordshire Supporting Refugee's meeting due to a charity festival I had played the summer before. I was the only student there and knew no one bar one other fairly quiet member of the meeting who I had met briefly. Also I was late, not a great start however not my fault. Shortly after entering I was then presented with the question of what can be done for the event to attract more students. It's then that I decided to bring up that I had just done an installation, as part of an assignment, that was based on the refugee crisis and that it would be amazing if I could perform this installation at their event. The piece itself tries to engage the audience in conversation about the crisis and the view the media has taken, so the event fit pretty well to my installation.
